Previews: Clark Goolsby – ‘Shatter’ @ Circuit 12 Contemporary

New York-based artist Clark Goolsby opens his new solo this coming weekend. The exhibition is aptly entitled Shatter, as Goolsby’s artworks are quite literally explosive. Capetown-based artist DALeast is opening a highly anticipated solo show with The Outsiders in Newcastle on the 22nd of November. The title of the show, Redok, comes from a Tibetan phrase meaning “hope and fear,” and represents the emotions the artist tries to show with his works. The main part of this coherent new body of work are six large scale acrylic on canvas pieces on tea stained backgrounds, created over many months. Berlin’s Circle Culture Gallery recently opened their third gallery space, in addition to its other two venues in Berlin (Mitte and Hamburg). Previews: Kelsey Brookes – “Better Living Through Chemistry” @ Judith Charles Gallery

Continuing with the themes he was exploring for a sold out show in San Diego last year, Kelsey Brookes will be presenting new work tomorrow night (November 21st) at the Judith Charles Gallery. His first solo in New York will feature abstract paintings and musings on molecular structures drawing from his scientific background, especially focusing in on drugs that affect the human consciousness. Hailing from New York, Julia Chiang immerses the Midwest this fall with her work via Kansas City’s Bill Brady Gallery. Openings: Ryan McGinley – “Body Loud” @ Galerie Perrotin

Over the weekend, Galerie Perrotin in Paris presented 20 new works from photographer Ryan McGinley. Entitled Body Loud, the selection of photos are a continuation of the New York-based artist’s signature imagery taken during summer road trips with his friends, staging and posing them in natural settings with his recognizable aesthetic.
