Releases: KAWS Silkscreen Print Portfolio

Prolific NYC-based artist KAWS has been very active lately showing his paintings & sculptures at art fairs & museums. After the FIAC art fair in France, two museum shows in the US at the PAFA (covered) and Nerman Museum (covered), and only few days before opening a solo show at Galerie Perrotin in NYC, the artist announced the release of a silkscreen prints portfolio on his Instagram. Releases: Faile Book Covers

If you missed it last year, tomorrow (October 30) around noon (Eastern Standard Time), Faile will be releasing some more new book covers with imagery from their recent show Les Ballets de Faile (Part I, Part II) at the New York City Ballet in New York. Priced at $1,250, each one will be unique with silk screened images overtop collaged paper as well as float mounted in a white frame. Openings: Billy Norrby – “The Stone Like” @ CHG Circa

On the same night as Ron English’s solo at Corey Helford, their sister gallery several doors down, CHG Circa also hosted an opening reception. The Stone Like featured the paintings of Billy Norrby, rendered in a style reminiscent of the master works from the Romanticism movement. Openings: Ron English – “Popogandastan” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last Saturday night, fans of Ron English (featured) packed the opening of his newest show at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, eager to see a new body of work that has been two years in the making. Popogandastan featured pieces that explored the gifted painter’s incredibly detailed world, filled with his surreal cast of characters and lush backgrounds. Previews: “Bad Dad 2013” @ Spoke Art

The first weekend on November, Spoke Art in San Francisco will be presenting their annual art exhibit dedicated to the films of Wes Anderson. Tomorrow night (October 29), the French street bomber known as Invader & Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be premiering a special screening of ART4SPACE (covered) for fans in New York City. Over the weekend, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City opened up a new show from KAWS entitled UPS AND DOWNS. The NY-based artist has been on a roll recently (also see PAFA, BAM, MTV, Basel, Tokyo) and it looks like he still has a couple more high profile shows scheduled before the end of the year. Brazilian street artist Titi Freak recently announced the release of a new print entitled Atmosphera featuring a floating figure with a spray can. Patrick Martinez Installation @ El Tapatio Market (Bell Gardens)

A couple days ago, the El Tapatio Market in Bell Gardens, California hosted a unique showing from Patrick Martinez. For one day only, the Los Angeles-based artist installed works from his repertoire including his signature neon signs in the supermarket. Blending in with the products offered by the store, the project provided an interesting juxtaposition of art and everyday life for random shoppers and art lovers alike.
