On Saturday night, the Known Gallery in Los Angeles hosted a private release party for Hello Kitty, Hello Art!, a book compiling artwork inspired by Sanrio characters. In association with this event, a group show featuring works from 64 Colors, AIKO, Caia Koopman, DABS MYLA, Kenton Parker, Niagara, Shepard Fairey, Simone Legno, RISK, Adam Wallacavage was on display as each artist chose different characters to render in their own typical fashion. Earlier this week, we shared some photos of the paintings from the current Todd James (aka REAS) exhibition, Free To be You & Me, at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen. Last week, Brett Amory’s latest effort, Twenty-Four in San Francisco, was put on display at Sandra Lee Gallery located in San Francisco’s Union Square (see the studio preview here). The show contained 24 paintings, each capturing a moment from a different location from a different hour of the day. After a showing there in 2011, Mel Kadel returns to the Merry Karnowsky Gallery for another exhibition this weekend. Entitled Stuck On A Wave, the new work features her delicate pen strokes and renderings of her characters frolicking in vibrant patterns and interlocking shapes. Releases: Esao Andrews – “Joyride To Nettle’s Summit” Print

Fans of Esao Andrews surreal imagery have about three hours left to purchase his Joyride To Nettle’s Summit print if they are interested in adding it to their collection. Andrews’ first timed-release edition is 16″ x 20″, costs $85, comes signed, and if you remember, is based on a painting he submitted for the Death and the Maiden group show in June.
