If you remember, we previously reported on the limited edition and intricate Lady Butterfly sculpture (produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten) from Aiko Nakagawa earlier this year. Last week in San Francisco, Alex Lukas brought his post-apocalyptic visions to the Guerrero Gallery, featuring submerged metropolis, overgrown skyscrapers, and derelict cities. Utilizing a complex technique on paper that includes ink, acrylic, watercolor, gouache and silk screen, the Philadelphia based artist paints a desolate future where humans may play no part, focusing on the fragility of our modern society. Releases: Glenn Barr – “Episode 9” Print (1xRUN)

Currently available at 1xRUN is this print, Episode 9, from Glenn Barr for $85. Fame Festival ’11: Escif

Escif recently made the stop in Grottaglie for some last minute additions as the Fame Festival opening will roll around in the next couple weeks (see other artists who have already have done their part here). Openings: LUDO – “Metamorphosis” @ High Roller Society

Opening his first solo exhibition in London over the weekend, LUDO (interviewed) yet again showed his artistic dexterity in multiple mediums at High Roller Society. Much like his Zurich solo back in April, Metamorphosis (previewed) offered an strong selection of large graphite and oil drawings, focusing on his signature weaponized insects. Preferring to work on paper, these large scale works illustrate the French artist’s deft drawing abilities and provide reference to the massive paper wheatpastes he utilizes for his street work.
