Video: “Destricted” Trailer

The controversial collection of shorts entitled Destricted was recently released onto DVD. The US version which features famed artists like Richard Prince and Marilyn Minter as directors consists of an ongoing series of films that explore the line where art and pornography intersect. When the UK version was released in 2006, it won awards at a range of international film festivals including Cannes, but encountered some problems predictably getting released in the States until now. Come next week, the ubiquitous UK supermodel Kate Moss will be trading the fashion show for the art fair. Takashi Murakami @ Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (New York)

When fall began, we kicked off coverage of Takashi Murakami’s concept to create two giant floats in the image of his beloved studio mascots Kaikai & Kiki for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Today, he wished us Happy Thanksgiving from New York as he surprised spectators by donning a flower costume rolling on a little float decorated with his famous “Jellyfish Eyes”. It may be Thanksgiving in the United States, but it is art business as usual for the rest of the world. Opening today at Milan’s Galleria Patricia Armocida is “Time Before Time,” the first solo exhibit in Italy by Matt Leines. What do we spy in the window through which the Marks and Stencils show we mentioned previously is being set up? New Image Art’s lineup for this year’s Art Basel Week looks sharp and could be one of the more anticipated offerings at 2010’s art extravaganza in Miami.
