Releases: Ryan McGinley – “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” Limited Edition Book

To accompany Ryan McGinley’s insanely popular exhibition (the opening had to be shut down by the fire marshal due to the volume of the crowd) Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, Dashwood Books has released a limited edition, hardcover book featuring images from the acclaimed photographer’s current show at Team Gallery. The $95 book, an edition of 2,000, is the artist’s “most ambitious book to date, a beautifully produced volume, luxuriously printed in tritone with a folded poster wrap.” It looks as though all 100 images […]

Openings: Barnstormers @ Joshua Liner Gallery

The beautiful weather and the promise of great art seemingly brought out all the five boroughs Thursday night for the opening of the Barnstormers show at Joshua Liner Gallery. The exhibition – which was so large that it overflowed Liner’s third floor space into an entire other gallery on the floor below – leaned toward presenting individual works from the diverse group of artists, instead of toward collaborative installations as expected. Of course, pieces by stars of the original scene such as David Ellis, Swoon, […]

Take a look at […]

Ian also has more surprises for this show that we’ll reveal to you with our opening night coverage. For now check […]

Openings: Kehinde Wiley x Puma – “Legends of Unity” World Cup Project @ Deitch Projects

Before the big Rosson Crow show opening (covered), Deitch Projects hosted Kehinde Wiley’s project with PUMA for several days on it’s tour stop before heading to China and Italy. If you remember, his paintings of World Cup players from Africa and related products celebrating the unity of the continent had made previous stops in Berlin and Paris. Take a look at some photos we took that we finally had a chance to upload, all after the jump…
