“Nobody walks in LA” is a show that will be exposing some Los Angeles based emerging artists to the Barcelona art scene put together by our friends over at Daily Dujour and Tina Ziegler from Atticus Gallery BCN. Andy Warhol @ Nassau County Museum of Art

The Nassau County Museum of Art opened an exhibition yesterday of Andy Warhol screenprints. The show runs through May 26 showcasing some of Warholâ€™s classic pop subjects including Marilyn Monroe, Mao Tse-Tung, Superman, Campbell Soup Cans, Dollar Signs and Martha Graham/The Kick. Plenty of time left to plan a day trip from New York City if you are in the area… Via Artdaily.

Openings: Know Hope @ Ad Hoc Art

Know Hope’s show (previewed) at Ad Hoc Art opened last weekend in NY to a pretty good crowd.Â As with most of his shows, the centerpiece was an installation, vividly bringing to life the imagery of his art.Â His well-known grappling and intertwined characters were again the stars in this body of work that seemed to have a seafaring theme. Luke Chueh will be back in March with his first solo show for 2009 at Corey Helford Gallery.Â His show entitled “From Light Cometh Darkness” will feature over 20 new paintings and drawings that will no doubt include some of his bears in various dark, comical, depressing, or satirical situations.Â His friend Thomas Han will be showing concurrently in Corey Helford’s loft area. The Smithsonian Institution hasÂ always beenÂ considered one of most prestigious museums in the world.Â It houses some amazing worksÂ including the “Portraits of America’s Presidents.” So,Â what’s a more fitting way to kick off the inauguration weekend than with the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery unveiling and inducting Shepard Fairey’s symbolic “Hope” image of Barack Obama. The Manifest Hope: DC exhibition, showcasing the spirit of the grass-root artist movement, officially opened it’s doors Saturday morning, but Friday night, select VIPs and friends were invited to preview the pop-up gallery.Â The packed house reflected the energy that is currently flowing into the nation’s capital for Inauguration. Audrey Kawasaki will be opening a show in Australia at Outre Gallery on February 13th. This will mainly be an exhibition of sold out prints (APs) with only one new original (in progress seen above). There will also be a new print scheduled for released as well. For our readers down under who want more of Audrey, look for a larger show in 2010 that should presumably include more originals. Andrew Schoultz and AJ Fosik opened up a pretty amazing show full of complex installations last weekend at Space 1026 in Philadelphia. We have never really envisioned their work interacting but the kinetic energy of Schoultz’s frenzied imagery blends nicely with the sculpts of Fosik’s beasts and folklore – perhaps it’s the complementary color palettes.
