We recently visited the studio of painter Mike Dargas as he prepares for his upcoming solo show at Opera Gallery in London from 6 – 20 July (curated by Jean-David Malat). Previews: Casey Gray – “Paper Trail” @ Legion

On July 8th, Casey Gray will be opening a small show of works on paper at Legion in San Francisco. The new experimental pieces from the locally-based artist are created with acrylic spray paint and precision masking techniques, a continuation of his explorations of still life. Paper Trail will include four medium-scale bulletin board paintings referencing his studio environment as well as some smaller fruit, vegetable, and landscape studies. Discuss this show here. Dutch Flower Painting Recreated With Real Flowers (London)

Along with an exhibition celebrating Dutch flower paintings of the early 17th and late 18th century, the National Gallery in London has also organized an installation made out of flowers on their front facade. Created out of 25,000 blooms by the Flower Council of Holland, the piece is a recreation of A Still Life of Flowers in a Wan-Li Vase by Dutch artist Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder. Upcoming: Martin Wittfooth @ Corey Helford Gallery

Fans of Martin Wittfooth (interviewed) will be be happy to know he’s hard at work on his next solo show. Scheduled for October at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, the exhibition looks to include at least one huge piece, the one seen above with some animals astride a tank. It’s entitled Bacchanal, measures 78″ x 60,” and appears to feature a familiar subject matter as well as palette. Discuss Martin Wittfooth here.

Art Focus: Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė

Continuing her series of works featuring a novel method of embroidering metal objects, Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė has recently decided to apply her unique technique to war helmets. The Lithuanian artist, who is choice of our next Art Focus article, recently exhibited these pieces at Art Vilnius 2016 where she was awarded for best installation at the fair. Streets: Buff Monster // Mural Festival (Montreal)

Earlier this month, Buff Monster painted a new mural in Montreal for this year’s edition of the Mural Festival. Streets: Barbara Kruger // High Line (New York)

Joining the plethora of artists that have had art visible from the High Line in New York, Barbara Kruger unveiled a mural she designed earlier this year (and on view through March 2017). Haroshi – “Battle At The Berrics 9” Trophy

As he has done in the past (see 5 & 7), sculptor Haroshi (featured) recently created the trophy for the ninth edition of the Battle At The Berrics. Perfectly matched with the contest held at the indoor skatepark in Los Angeles, the Japanese artist chose this time to create his version of the number 9 with his usual medium of choice – used skatedecks. Streets / Recap: Urban Nation // Project M/9 (Berlin)

Continuing their longstanding public arts program, Urban Nation in Berlin recently completed their ninth edition – Project M/9. Curated by JUSTKIDS and StreetArtNews, the event this time hosted Borondo (seen above), Fafi, Bicicleta Sem Freio, Askew, 1010, and Eron as they painted walls in the capital city with “Colors” as the theme.
