Time for another one of our Streets: World Roundup articles. This new edition features up top a new collaboration wall from SABER (interviewed) and ZES at the Artist & Craftsman Supply building in Los Angeles. The two local and MSK affiliated writers combined their styles for an impressive wrap on the side of the structure. The project was arranged by Branded Arts and you can view more photos here if interested. Other notable public arts in this article comes from: Vine – Italy (source), Remed x Okuda – […]

Recap: Yoskay Yamamoto – “House of Daydreamers” @ Giant Robot 2

Giant Robot 2 in Los Angeles recently closed out a show from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) entitled House of Daydreamers. The exhibition highlighted the locally-based artist’s diverse range of works including paintings, installations, and wood sculptures. The title of the show summarizes nicely some of the dreamy imagery that we have come to love from him, along with more literal interpretations. More photos from the opening can be seen below and on Hi-Fructose. Photo credit: Hi-Fructose. Discuss Yoskay Yamamoto here.

Futura Designs Poster for U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team

With the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team set to kick off their World Cup campaign later today, now would be a to share this new poster from Futura. The New York graffiti legend and official art director for the team incorporated familiar elements of his work into the design including colorful abstractions in the background, his pointman character running the field, and soccer ball comparisons with his atom motif. It also sounds like fans of Futura’s work and the team will have a chance to […]

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Inner Mystic” @ Roq la Rue

It’s been a few years since Andy Kehoe’s last show at Roq la Rue, but to say he’s been busy would be an understatement. With several shows since then, the Pittsburgh-based painter continues to hone his skills and evolve as an artist. Woodland animals and anthropomorphized creatures are a mainstay in his work, but his use of resin has really raised the level of dimension, quite literally.  Layers of clear resin are poured into a sealed frame, with each layer painted in a unique fashion, making […]

Rembrandt previously said was a copy declared as definitely genuine. Unknown forger of Czech artwork fools even the experts. Knoedler & Company forger actually misspelled Pollock’s name on one of the pieces. […]

Openings: Redd Walitzki – “When We Break” @ Roq la Rue

Redd Walitzki didn’t have to go to far for her first solo show at Roq la Rue as her studio is mere blocks away from the gallery. When We Break intertwines seemingly vulnerable subjects with nature and small animals, as flowers erupt from the skin and melt into the milky backgrounds. Some manage to fly out of the panel itself. Aiding in the scenery are intricate panels cut with lasers and what isn’t better with lasers? A few even have adornments making them into three-dimensional displays. […]
