Upcoming: Bumblebeelovesyou – “Bee Yourself” Popup Show

On January 23rd (6 – 9 pm), Bumblebeelovesyou will be holding a popup show in Los Angeles entitled Bee Yourself in Los Angeles (4621 West Washington Blvd).  This will be the first solo show from the LA-based street artist and will continue the socially and environmentally conscious direction often seen in his work. Of course, there will be plenty of riffs on his namesake seen in his imagery. The exhibition runs until January 26 with regular hours of 12 – 8 pm. Discuss Bumblebeelovesyou here.

Josh Keyes – “The Old Ones” / “Far Side of the World” Online Show

Earlier this week, Josh Keyes (interviewed) released images to the first installment of his Far Side of the World online show. The Old Ones sees the Portland-based artist explore the origins of the animals and creatures that inhabit his paintings, some larger than life. Continuing to explore a new style that takes his imagery clear to the edges, Keyes has put aside for now the organic cubism and isolated constructs that has been his calling card over the years. Basel Week Miami ’13: The Still House Group – “Straight II DVD”

One of the booths we were excited to see at the NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance) art fair during Art Basel Week was by New York Collective The Still House Group. Interestingly enough when we arrived, all we found was a cryptic Xerox copy machine asking us to press the button. On February 5th (5-8pm), Stephen Webster’s Beverly Hills flagship boutique and gallery will be hosting a new show from D*Face (interviewed) as well as a book signing. For the US launch of The Art of D*Face: One Man and His Dog, the UK-based street artist will be releasing the standard edition of the monograph as well as a limited edition box set (edition of 50) which will include a six color screen print. Openings: Bill McRight – “Willing To Lose” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Last week, Bill McRight (interviewed) opened up a show alongside Alex Lukas (interviewed) and his post-apocalyptal imagery at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. Entitled Willing To Lose, the new body of work from McRight consisted of his signature home-made shanks and other weaponry as well as some skull-based engraved mirrors.
