POW WOW ’13: Yoskay Yamamoto, Jeff Hamada, Wu Yue, and Andrea Wan

Another mural we watched go up during POW WOW Hawaii was a joint effort from Yoskay Yamamoto, Jeff Hamada, Wu Yue, and Andrea Wan. Situated next to a small park in the Kaka’ako district, the piece meshed the talents of all four artists who hail from different parts of the world – Los Angeles, Vancouver, Paris, and Berlin. Setup: ROA – “Stop Over” @ Bodson-Emelinckx

Shots of opening night in Brussels for ROA’s newest solo show will soon follow, but here are some photos of the Belgium-based street artist prepping his installation and works for the exhibition. Entitled Stop Over, and held at the Bodson-Emelinckx Gallery, the new paintings and install should keep his hometown fans satisfied while they wait for the prolific animal anatomist to take to the streets. Starting from the first inklings of the project back in October, Louis Vuitton seemed to be tapping into the the street art game to further their long line of artist collaborations. After their the initial foray in this direction, the iconic fashion house’s project has expanded to include three artists so far – Aiko, Os Gemeos, and RETNA. Starting today, the Tate Modern in London will be opening their doors to the public for the first full-scale retrospective of Roy Lichtenstein in many years. Openings: Marco Mazzoni – “Il Ricordo è Un Consolatore Molesto”@ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. As we mentioned in the preview for this show, this is Marco’s 1st solo show in a city where he has been working and living in for years. Along with medium-scale colored pencil paper drawings, moleskin paper drawings, and a site-specific installation that was announced for this show, the artist had another three mini moleskine books exhibited with three drawings that matched the theme and the spirit of this show. Upcoming: ROA – “Stop Over” @ Bodson-Emelinckx

Tonight in Belgium, favorite son ROA will be opening a show at Bodson-Emelinckx in Brussels. Entitled Stop Over, this exhibition will finally give fans in his home country a look at his special anatomical style. POW WOW ’13: Faith47

South African power couple Faith47 and DAL were one of the many duos that were in town for POW WOW this last week. We’ll start with the delicate work of Faith first with photos of her mural The Silence Before across from the Fresh Cafe on Queen Street in Oahu. The minimal palette that she uses blended in nicely with the neighboring structures and will be admired by art lovers in that part of town for years to come. Discuss POW WOW here.
