Streets: Shepard Fairey (London)

As we mentioned last month, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening a show at the StolenSpace Gallery in London entitled Sound and Vision. Looks like he made an early trek across the pond to work on some large-scale public murals of his distinctive imagery including this new piece on Ebor Street in East London. Tomorrow night, Mark Whalen (featured) will be unveiling all new works at the Merry Karnowksy Gallery. Entitled Portals, the name certainly can be descriptive of the imagery seen in his paintings – strange beings that look like they might have appeared through doorways into another dimension or world. Earlier this week, we shared some photos of the paintings from the current Todd James (aka REAS) exhibition, Free To be You & Me, at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen. Along with these works, the NY-based artist also created an installation of what he imagines to be the Vandal’s Bedroom , chock full of drawings and other ephemera that very well could represent James’ bedroom at one point in time. Openings: Brett Amory – “Twenty-Four in San Francisco” @ Sandra Lee Gallery

Last week, Brett Amory’s latest effort, Twenty-Four in San Francisco, was put on display at Sandra Lee Gallery located in San Francisco’s Union Square (see the studio preview here). The show contained 24 paintings, each capturing a moment from a different location from a different hour of the day. Brooklyn’s Cotton Candy Machine will host a dual exhibition with Brandi Milne and Camilla d’Errico (above) with the opening scheduled for tonight. We got to meet up with Munich based Sat One whilst he was in London recently for the Futurism 2.0 exhibition, and witnessed this gem of a wall collaboration with Roid. Now back in Munich, the hard-working street muralist has whipped up this privately commissioned little jammy entitled Inner Path. Discuss SatOne here.

After a showing there in 2011, Mel Kadel returns to the Merry Karnowsky Gallery for another exhibition this weekend. Entitled Stuck On A Wave, the new work features her delicate pen strokes and renderings of her characters frolicking in vibrant patterns and interlocking shapes. Fans of Esao Andrews surreal imagery have about three hours left to purchase his Joyride To Nettle’s Summit print if they are interested in adding it to their collection. Andrews’ first timed-release edition is 16″ x 20″, costs $85, comes signed, and if you remember, is based on a painting he submitted for the Death and the Maiden group show in June.
