Along with the launch of Frieze Art Week in London was the opening of the Frieze Sculpture Park, curated by Clare Lilley, Director of Programme at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Over the weekend, Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) opened his new showcase (arranged by LeBasse Projects) at Harbour City in Hong Kong. Like other artists before him – KAWS (here), Yayoi Kusama, Yue Minjun (here), and Florentijn Hofman (here) – the New York based artist’s work dominated the main entrance and was also supported by a small exhibition of his work. Included are a 6.5 meter high stainless steel sculpture as well his contemporary Japanese imagery gracing the stairs, pillars, and adjacent billboards.
