Basel Week Miami ’10: Kate Moss Portfolio @ Danzinger Projects

Images of Kate Moss are a welcome sight anywhere they spring up. Such was the case with the 11 photographs on display at the Danzinger Projects (previewed) booth during PULSE Miami. Forming a limited edition portfolio of hand picked shots from throughout her storied 20+ year career, the iconic images provided a welcome respite from the sometimes overwhelming barrage of artwork more synonymous with Art Basel Week. With work from such venerable photographers as Chuck Close, Juergen Tell, and Annie Leibovitz, and packaging designed by […]

Sprüth Magers – based out of Berlin and London – certainly brought back to the states work by some of America’s best artists.  Their booth included a prominent sculpture by Sterling Ruby, a painting by artist-of-the-hour George Condo (whose paintings seemed to be everywhere at the fair this year), a photo by Cindy Sherman, a large text-based installation by Jenny Holzer, instantly-recognizable John Baldessari and Barbara Kruger pieces, and a painting by Jeff Koons.  See them for yourself after the jump… More after the jump…

Streets: Blu for Los Angeles MOCA (Buffed)

If you blinked, you would have missed Blu’s newest mural in Los Angeles. Invited to by the MOCA to paint a wall ahead of it’s highly anticipated “Art in the Streets” exhibition in April, the museum apparently had forgotten that the Italian street sensation made his name making pointed political statements with his large-scale work, often site-specific and aimed directly at the local governments and/or corporations. With the piece facing a Veterans Administration building, the museum (with or without Deitch) decided to buff over the […]

This Friday, December 10th, Martin Wittfooth will be bringing a new body of work entitled Gardens to the Roq la Rue Gallery. Exhibiting alongside Mike Brown, Wittfooth paints his animalia from a different viewpoint – in a faded world where it seems the time of man has passed and all that is left are rusted monuments and infrastructure, the last vestiges of the human race. More preview images after the jump…

Also included in the exhibition is an installation by Joshua Barndt entitled The World is a Mountain and Everything Gets Buried. Take a look at the short, but interesting trailer that Joshua made in […]

Basel Week Miami ’10 – David Kordansky Gallery

One of the galleries with the best stable of “emerging” artists at Art Basel Miami Beach was David Kordansky Gallery.  The Culver City, CA stalwart represented Los Angeles’ growing art scene to the fullest with fantastic pieces by such talked-about artists as Elad Lassry, Aaron Curry, and Kathryn Andrews.  Its booth was so hot that they reportedly sold-out their entire show.  See the pieces they exhibited after the jump…

Releases: Mark Jenkins – “Flower Signs & Twins”

Mark Jenkins is back in the house, this time with something for (almost) everyone. He’s released two editions based on his publicly installed pieces – Flower Signs and Twins. We at AM have always loved his unique sculptures & installations, but rarely do we see an editioned piece from Jenkins. What we like about this is that both are hand made and individually signed. Get yours here while you can. Check out the image of the twins after the jump.
