Upcoming: “Based on Actual Events” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Two artists that we have had our eyes on for a while that were featured in some of our previous Art Focus articles, Eloy Morales (focus) & Joel Rea (focus) will be part of a group show this weekend at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Based on Actual Events also includes Alyssa Monks and Diego Koi, with all four artists showing particular skill with hyper-realism. If Morales’ work above piques your interest, plan to attend the opening on Saturday night, January 11th.

An impressive group of artists got together over the weekend at the behest of Martin Wittfooth’s (interviewed). Preview: “Dark Water” @ Copro Gallery

When you give an artist of Martin Wittfooth’s (interviewed) caliber carte blanche to curate a show, what else can you expect but a stellar lineup of painters and contributed work that aheres to a high standard. Dark Water opens this Saturday, November 12th at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica with participants encouraged to thematically base their pieces on the title of the show. Openings: Group Show – “Breach of Privacy” @ Carmichael Gallery

For the those with voyeuristic tendencies out there, the Carmichael Gallery recently hosted the opening for a show that might fit your artistic taste. Breach of Privacy features the work of five NY-based artists – Yasmine Chatila, Hilo Chen, Adam Krueger, Alyssa Monks and Jaclyn Santos – and their explorations of the nature of voyeurism with their renditions and glimpses of private moments from afar all presented over a range of mediums including oils, mixed media, and photography.
