Basel Week Miami ’16: Juxtapoz Clubhouse

One of the venues jam-packed with goodness during Basel Week Miami was the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, a special project in conjunction between the magazine and Mana Urban Arts Project. The immersive artist retreat and exhibition space in the Wynwood District features collaborations with different artists, galleries and creatives. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Showing: Tim Biskup – “The Dog”

Currently at Basel Week Miami, Tim Biskup (featured) has created an immersive art installation in the form of a bar, dancehall, and art gallery. Called The Dog. (1306 North Miami Ave), the space will be open through Saturday night with the schedule of events and RSVP information here. Basel Week Miami ’16: Scope Art Fair

One of the highly anticipated satellite fairs every year during Basel Week Miami for us is the Scope Art Fair. The 16th edition of the fair returns to the sandy shores of shores of Ocean Drive with 125 international exhibitors from 22 countries and 57 cities showing their wares. After hosting a solo show by Tomoo Gokita last year (covered), Bill Brady picked three artists for a small group showing during this year’s Basel Week Miami. It looks like Shepard Fairey (featured) has just completed one of the murals he had planned for Basel Week Miami. Entitled Fruits Of Our Labor, the wall at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center features Shep’s distinctive imagery and satire. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Showing: Audrey Kawasaki @ Hotel of South Beach

Currently in in town for Basel Week Miami, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) is in the process of painting a pretty sweet mural at the Hotel of South Beach. Already at it for the last 5 days, the Los Angeles-based artist hopes to complete the wall featuring one of her seductive females by tomorrow. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Releases: KAWS – “PIRANHAS WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING” Print @ Pace Prints

Those who walked by the Pace Prints booth at Art Basel Miami Beach (covered) may have been surprised to see a new print available from KAWS. Entitled PIRANHAS WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING, the image is taken from a piece the Brooklyn-based artist painted for a show back in 2014 in the Caribbean (covered). On November 29th, art dealers Larry Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch opened their second collaborative group exhibition for Basel Week Miami.
