With more time to explore the big fair, Art Basel Miami Beach, a stroll past Team Gallery’s booth (teased) was in order. Last night, before heading out to the requisite evening parties at Art Basel, we stopped by Primary Projects to check out the street calligraphic stylings of Retna (featured). His signature script in different manifestations infused the space with the West Coast aesthetic including the walls, floors, and doors reminiscent of his immersive show at Riviera and Riviera in August (covered). Now that the initial excitement of preview day (covered) at Art Basel Miami Beach is over with, we can continue bringing you a more thorough look-see at some of the significant booths at the main fair. With the pleasure of attending the event together with Shepard Fairey and his family, AM headed over to the opening of Small Gift Miami (previewed) for a bit of cross-generational fun during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Sanrio. Tony Shafrazi’s booth was one of the first ones we made a beeline to when we entered the main fair at Art Basel. As advertised, our attention was dominated by Robert Williams’ newest sculpture, The Brain Trap, which we can fully reveal now. This was surrounded by other paintings from Williams along with the Diamond in a Goat’s Ass sculpture, and work by Dennis Hopper, and Ed Ruscha. More photos after the jump…

Our friend Jeff Soto’s (featured) just sent over photos of some of his escapades in Miami with his old graffiti partner Maxx242. In town for Art Basel Week (he is painting a mural for Wynwood Walls and is listed for Primary Flight), you can be sure the Sotofish sure knows how to have a good time (see last year). After months of anticipation, the time has finally come for the curtains to be drawn back and the show to begin at this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach. One of the first things we did yesterday when we arrived in Miami was attend the Emmanuel Perrotin party and opening reception at their gallery space. The event centered around Daniel Arsham’s sixth solo exhibition, Alter, with three new body of works – Objects from Antiquity, Push Puppets and Pixel Clouds.
