Releases: Parra x Kidrobot – “Pierced” Figure

On June 7th, Kidrobot will be releasing (in-store and online) a new figure from Dutch artist Parra entitled Pierced. The 10-inch vinyl sculpture is inspired by the melodramatic cover art of romance novels and based on imagery from his original silkscreen artwork. The entwined figures which demonstrate the simultaneous pain and pleasure that many experience while in love will set collectors back $150 and will be limited to an edition of 300. Via mashKULTURE.

Earlier this week, we heralded the imminent release of James Jean’s (featured) Butterfly collection from his OVM line. It looks like his fans didn’t have to wait long as the entire selection of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets have been made available as well as a matching scarf. With this continuing foray into fashion, the multi-talented Jean continues to push his artistic boundaries while maintaining the shapes, colors, imagery, and aesthetic to those familiar with his work. You may remember last year when we told you about Aiko’s Lady Butterfly figure. The initial silver version drop on Valentine’s Day last year and subsequent black version release sold out rapidly, but in about an hour, this year’s V-day cherry version will be available here. Playing to his strengths of appropriating pop culture for his own unique creations, Ron English (featured) has recently revealed two projects he has been working on. The first is the melding of Barack Obama and The Incredible Hulk into one amazing sculpt although we aren’t quite sure what the message is. KAWS fans out there will be pleased to know that the next figure from the street turned contemporary artist has dropped. Partners features a sculpt of the artist standing next to his companion figure. If this looks familiar, it’s because you probably have seen the statue at Disneyland featuring Walt Disney standing next to Mickey Mouse although not cringing like in this version.
