Tonight in Los Angeles, Hero Complex Gallery will be opening a 30th Anniversary Art Celebration for The Legend Of Zelda. The action-adventure video game from Nintendo has certainly developed a cult following through the years so expect many of the iconic images be used by the artists in the group exhibition including Link, Princess Zelda (illustrated by Audrey Pongracz above), and the Triforce.

Starting this week, artists have been hard at work painting murals for this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii. Beautifying the streets of Kaka’ako in Oahu with their imagery, the participants get to enjoy the tropical weather and throngs of fans as they leave their mark at the annual event. This Saturday night (6-9 pm), VNA Magazine will be holding a release party at Thinkspace for the limited edition boxset for issue #32 with the cover going to Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed). Each screen-printed set comes complete with a screen-printed sleeve, enamel badge and signed mini giclée print. Stamped and numbered in an edition of 150, these will be offered at the Culver City showspace at the event but also some will be held back for an online drop at a later date. Last week, Unit London hosted the opening of a group show curated by the founder of Paintguide, Henrik Uldalen. Yesterday, AM had the opportunity to stop by the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) for what’s shaping up to be an epic exhibition. Put on in collaboration by Thinkspace Gallery, the people behind POW! WOW!, and LBMA, the main attraction of Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape are the on site installations and murals.
