On March 26, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Dreaming of Koholint Island. The image is taken from the painting the locally-based artist contributed to the current 30th anniversary Legend of Zelda group show (covered) in Los Angeles. Starting at 12 noon PST, 250 of these prints will go on sale for $140 unframed and $290 framed, but head over here for more details if you are interested in adding one to your collection. Tonight in Los Angeles, Hero Complex Gallery will be opening a 30th Anniversary Art Celebration for The Legend Of Zelda. The action-adventure video game from Nintendo has certainly developed a cult following through the years so expect many of the iconic images be used by the artists in the group exhibition including Link, Princess Zelda (illustrated by Audrey Pongracz above), and the Triforce.
With this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii winding down over the weekend, it’s now time to take look at some of the finished murals for the annual event. Starting this week, artists have been hard at work painting murals for this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii. Beautifying the streets of Kaka’ako in Oahu with their imagery, the participants get to enjoy the tropical weather and throngs of fans as they leave their mark at the annual event. This Saturday night (6-9 pm), VNA Magazine will be holding a release party at Thinkspace for the limited edition boxset for issue #32 with the cover going to Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed). Each screen-printed set comes complete with a screen-printed sleeve, enamel badge and signed mini giclée print. Stamped and numbered in an edition of 150, these will be offered at the Culver City showspace at the event but also some will be held back for an online drop at a later date.
