Streets / Videos: Banksy (Gaza)

After several months of silence, the world wide phenomenon that is Banksy just updated his official website with a new series of works recently created in occupied Gaza. In his sharp and critical style, Mr B. has put ups some meaningful pieces including a cat playing with iron wire from destroyed homes, an image of the weeping Niobe, a Greek goddess that was punished for pride in her children, a watchtower being used as a merry go-round, and finally a strong message that states “If we wash our hands of the conflict between […]

Streets: Banksy (Bristol)

Yesterday, despite a recent hoax alleging his arrest, Banksy revealed his new work on his website – Banksy.co.uk. The piece titled The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum was painted the night before at Dockside Studios in Bristol, but shortly after the reveal it got defaced with a splash of black paint. The pieces is a parody of Dutch master painter Johannes Vermeer’s Girl With A Pearl Earring. Using stencil and what seems to be an extinguisher with black paint, the elusive artist created a clever bastardized version incorporating the alarm bell on the […]

Streets: Banksy (Clacton-on-Sea)

After unveiling a new piece on the streets in Folkestone after a short absence, it looks like Banksy has moved up the south east coast of England to Clacton-on-Sea. The clever new stenciled image features a flock of birds protesting against another bird of a different color, bringing to light the silliness of similar behavior in the human race. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a slew of new works from the Bristol Bomber. Discuss Banksy here.

Head to Payers Park in the towne center to take a look for yourself if you are in the area. Discuss […]

Streets: Banksy (Glastonbury 2014)

This year’s Glastonbury Festival kicked off recently in the UK where attendees were surprised by an appearance by Banksy’s Sirens of the Lambs truck. The Bristol-based artist imported the art performance piece from his recent art residency on the streets of New York, changing out the truck to something seen locally as well as adding a man dressed as a farmer leading the way. Mr. B has created art for the event in the past and even attendees of what is billed as the largest greenfield festival […]

Banksy’s Webby Awards Acceptance Video

Last week, the 18th annual Webby Awards named Banksy the Person of the Year in a surprise move. Of course, the elusive street artist was not on hand to accept the distinction awarded for excellence on the internet. The honor accorded Mr. B was a testimony to how well-known his art has become and how skillfully he is able to manage his online presence. This fact along with other things were mentioned tongue-in-check in an acceptance video the Bristol bomber released about his recent “art residency” in New […]

One surprise caught at the fair was the appearance of a freight truck door allegedly tagged by Banksy during his high profile artist residency in New York City. It was interesting to catch the trend […]

Streets: Banksy (UK)

It looks like the infamous British man of mystery, Banksy, was active on the streets of his homeland this weekend. First, on Sunday morning a new piece appeared on the side of a house in Cheltenham. The stenciled image shows three old fashioned secret agents in brown trench coats, using retro looking gadgets to eavesdrop a phone booth. Even thought not confirmed yet as Banksy work, this piece has all the elements of his style, and it’s placed only 3 miles from GCHQ, home of […]
