Last month, AM paid a visit to the Andrew Edlin Gallery in New York to take in a new solo show from Brian Adam Douglas (interviewed), otherwise known as Elbow-Toe. Utilizing a painstaking process involving shards of cut paper in place of brush strokes, the resulting art works are amazingly textural and complex. The solo exhibition Due Date by Brian Adam Douglas (interviewed) opened on Thursday 9 March to a full house at London’s Black Rat Projects. Douglas himself was fine form throughout the evening, chatting with visitors and signing copies of his new book, Paper cuts, published by Drago. Black Rat Press‘ stunning lighting rig came into its own this past Thursday when the new three-person show “Ways of Seeing” opened. Featuring new work from Swoon (interviewed), Brian Adam Douglas a.k.a. Elbow-Toe (interviewed) and Matt Small (interviewed), the vibrancy and luminosity of the colors of Douglas’ and Small’s work was really highlighted by the controlled approach to lighting against the brickwork backdrop of the gallery.Â More after the jump…

As previously mentioned, Black Rat Press exhibited at the London Art Fair where they showed works by Swoon, Matt Small, Lucas Price, Asha Zero, Brian Adam Douglas, D*Face and Nick Walker.Â As expected, Walker’s print sold out, but there were actually some pretty good originals available.Â In particular, Swoon’s and Matt Small’s pieces were quite strong.Â Take a look after the jump.

Black Rat Press’ annual group show “White Noise” will open tonight featuring D*Face, Nick Walker, Blek Le Rat, Lucas Price, Asha Zero, Matt Small and Brian Adam Douglas.
