Openings: “Tiny Trifecta” @ Cotton Candy Machine

This past weekend, New York’s Cotton Candy Machine hosted their second annual “tiny” art showcase entitled Tiny Trifecta. As we mentioned in our preview, artists this year upped the ante as each created three pieces of original artwork for fans who may not have the opportunity to purchase their larger scale works. All you needed was a $100 and the patience to queue up for a chance at your favorite artwork. Tara McPherson curated strong and diverse lineup which included names such as James Jean, Audrey […]

Openings: Buff Monster – “Legend of the Pink Cherry” @ Corey Helford

A couple weeks ago in Corey Helford Gallery, show-goers in Culver City were hit with a healthy does of pink, courtesy of Buff Monster (featured) – on his birthday no less. Legend of the Pink Cherry follows the LA-based artist’s narrative as his main coned character & hero goes on his travels & adventures. Also on display were a series of Garbage Pail Kids inspired paintings entitled The Melty Misfits which were displayed in the loft area. More opening photos after the jump…

Streets: Buff Monster @ The Standard (Los Angeles)

Last time we saw Buff Monster (featured) out on the streets of Los Angeles, he was atop a busy Hollywood Boulvard pasting up his trademark design and commemorating his 10th year anniversary (covered). Now, he’s begun 2012 with a new mural on the doorsteps of the The Standard Hotel in Los Angeles. Known as an open invitation for artists such as Eric Haze and Dave Kinsey, this wall is now glowing bright with Buff’s usual shades of pink. This piece, which took him two days to […]

Other murals after the jump include Gaia (London), Buff Monster & Lamour Supreme (Miami), Spidertag (Madrid), JAZ (Miami), Phlegm (UK), Cope2 (Miami), Otto Schade (London), Angry […]

Baby Tattooville ’11: “Baby Tattooville On Parade” Opening @ Riverside Art Museum

One of the biggest benefits for artists participating in the annual Baby Tattooville celebration is having their work exhibited in the Riverside Art Museum for all to see even after the exclusive weekend festivities end (you have about five weeks – until Nov. 8 – to catch show).  Entering its fifth year of hosting exhibitions featuring BT artists, this collection is a retrospective of sorts that includes works from those that have had their work in the annual show in the past. The star-studded line-up […]

Video: “Buff Monster Does Hollywood”

Last week, we brought you some photos of Buff Monster (featured) working on a spot above Hollywood Boulevard with pink paint and wheatpaste. Now comes footage of him in action leaning over the edge of the roof as well as a closer look at the “10 Years” stencil, a reference to the 10th anniversary of drawing his first signature character. Thanks to Carlos Gonzalez for the video. Discuss Buff Monster here.

Streets: Buff Monster (Los Angeles)

Just several days ago, LA-based and pink enthusiast Buff Monster (featured) re-visited a spot he hit up years ago above Hollywood Boulevard and pasted up an updated piece featuring his signature imagery. The busy artist who also recently patined up Bristol and London with wall murals will be showing along with Jeremyville at the Cotton Candy Machine starting on August 5th in New York. For now, check out more photos taken for us by Carlos Gonzalez after the jump…

Openings: “Dark Pop 3.0” @ Last Rites Gallery

The third installment of Last Rites Gallery’s annual group exhibition Dark Pop 3.0 opened this weekend in New York. The show brought together some intriguing work from a diverse group of names, whose work is either intimately or loosely synonymous with a pop art aesthetic within their various genres. With a directive to err on the darker end of the spectrum, such artists as Scott Musgrove, Mark Dean Veca, Buff Monster, Glenn Barr, Brian Despain, Esao Andrews and Gaia produced work that was decidedly foreboding, […]

Basel Week Miami ’10 – Corey Helford Gallery

The lux booth design was inviting as pimp couches and rugs invited spectators to take a load off to stare at a great preview of artwork for the […]
