Recap: Bumblebee – “Bee Yourself” Los Angeles Popup

From Jan 23 to Jan 26, Bumblebee’s first solo exhibition was on view at a pop-up location in Los Angeles. Consisting of new works and installations such as his Venice Beach lemonade stand, the show included familiar images from his street art murals, as well as his environmentally-conscious statements, such as his phone booths. Upcoming: Bumblebeelovesyou – “Bee Yourself” Popup Show

On January 23rd (6 – 9 pm), Bumblebeelovesyou will be holding a popup show in Los Angeles entitled Bee Yourself in Los Angeles (4621 West Washington Blvd).  This will be the first solo show from the LA-based street artist and will continue the socially and environmentally conscious direction often seen in his work. Of course, there will be plenty of riffs on his namesake seen in his imagery. The exhibition runs until January 26 with regular hours of 12 – 8 pm. Discuss Bumblebeelovesyou here.

Opening tonight at 7 pm (with a The Morning After – Santa Monica print release from Nick Walker) is the Branded Arts x Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica Benefit (1238 Lincoln Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90404). Young Americans: Antimatter is a group exhibition that just closed in Singapore at the Gajah Gallery featuring Amanda Charchian, Bumblebee (seen above), Greg Allen-Muller, Lisa Solberg, Judith Supine and Zio Ziegler. Curated by Simmy Swinder, the show features a diverse collection of works from the selected young American artists. For those fortunate enough to be in Southern California this time of year, Bumblebee will be presenting a one day pop-up installation this Sunday, August 11th on the world-famous Venice Beach Boardwalk. Bumblebee’s street work oftentimes deals with serious issues, such as youth homelessness and environmental awareness.
