Placed on Wabash & 9th on one of Columbia College’s buildings and entitled We Own The Future, the mural will be a welcome addition to Chi-town’s cityscape. We’ll also bring you a look soon at other artists, including Cleon Peterson, RETNA, and POSE, who […]

Jen Stark for Fashion Outlets of Chicago

A couple weeks ago, we shared with you plans (arranged by The Arts Initiative & Primary Projects) underway to make the new Fashion Outlets of Chicago into a place where shoppers could enjoy making their purchases as well as enjoy a little art at the same time. We gave you an idea of what to expect from Daniel Arsham, and now ahead of the opening next month, it appears Jen Stark (featured) has been working on her installations for the project. If interested, check out more photos below and also see the […]

Streets: POSE x Dabs Myla (Chicago)

Straight off his show in New York (covered), POSE is back on the streets doing what he does best. This time he’s repping The Seventh Letter along with Dabs Myla in Chicago for Pilsen’s Art in Public Places initiative. Just one of the many murals as part of the project in the 25th Ward, the distinctive style of the three artists certainly brightened up the area. Photo credit: Alderman Danny Solis & the artists. We’re looking forward to seeing the final product, but for now, take a look at Arsham in action as he works on getting his part of the project just right. Discuss […]

Luke Chueh – “I Am Your Plaything” @ Rotofugi

Last month in Chicago, the Rotofugi art toy boutique and gallery hosted all new works from Luke Chueh (interviewed) which was collectively entitled I Am Your Plaything. As we knew when we visited Luke’s studio, the paintings would be great success seeing that the attendees would be both toy and art aficionados, areas in which the LA-based artist has made a name for himself. The work featured a mixture of imagery that appealed to toy collectors with its clever in-jokes as well as fans of Chueh’s classic ironic and […]

Studio Visit: Luke Chueh

This Friday night, art toy boutique and gallery Rotofugi will be hosting the unveiling of new works from Luke Chueh (interviewed) in a show entitled I Am Your Plaything. AM stopped by the LA-based artist’s studio (dubbed the Shedio 2.0) to check out the paintings headed out to Chicago for the opening. The work he showed us centered around his clever and often times self-deprecating humor all with plenty of inside jokes to go around for toy collectors out there – from the frustrations and joys of blind boxing to digs […]

Upcoming: Luke Chueh – “I Am Your Plaything” @ Rotofugi

As history suggests, there is a good chance that any artist who has made a name for themselves in the art toy game will eventually head to Chicago for a showing at Rotofugi. Luke Chueh (interviewed) is no different as he will be opening a solo, I Am Your Plaything, at the toy boutique and gallery on September 7th. The exhibition will feature the LA-based painter’s cast of characters and the dark humor that has become his calling card all referencing different aspects of the toy world. Discuss […]
