Check out this little in-progress shot of the Ernesto Yerena’s “Che Guevara” piece. Pretty bad-ass take on the famed Latin American revolutionary. This original artwork is a 30″ x 44″ HPM with paper collage painted from hand cut stencils. The style may be reminiscent of Obey’s classic handiwork.  Well, maybe because Ernesto is actually Shepard Fairey’s studio assistant. This past Saturday, Subliminal Projects presented the second installment of their “Park Life” series. Curated by Studio Number One, this latest body of work revolves around the theme of “The New Utopia,” which presents each artists’ individual representations of a perfect society. Openings: Poketo Benefit and Art Auction – “F%#K Cancer! We Love Justin.”

AM was in attendance at the “F%#k Cancer! We Love Justin” silent art auction held at Poketo studios. You may not recognize Justin VanHoy’s name, but you’ve undoubtedly seen the work he’s done as art director of Swindle and his contributions to Obey Clothing, Cobra Snake and Wired Magazine. All proceeds from the event went directly to support Justin’s recovery from a successful bone marrow transplant after a relapse of lukemia.
