Avant Garde Urbano was conceived when artist Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada teamed up with the township of Tudela De Navarra to create a grass roots non-profit organization with a single goal in mind – to bring some of the best urban artists in the world to one of the most magical communities in central Spain. AM already brought you a play-by-play of this years mural line up featuring Vhils, Ron English, Faith47, and DALeast. In addition, this year the organizers teamed up with Muñoz Sola Museum of Modern […]

Faith47 recently dropped one of her most iconic murals to date in the quaint town of Tudela De Navarra at the fourth annual Avant Garde Urbano Festival (also see our coverage of Vhils’ piece). In an area of Spain that is heavily influenced by Catholicism, she appropriately integrated a piece depicting a strong likeness to the Virgin Mary entitled saturation.incubation.illumination. The recent extensive showcase of street art put together by the Wooster Collective for their ten year anniversary exhibition (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was just the tip of the iceburg. In the streets of Williamsburg & Dumbo, the collective got ahold of some prime wall space for some of the artists involved to work on. We stopped by Brooklyn’s DUMBO district to catch artists such as Shepard Fairey, DALeast, Faith 47, Eltono and MOMO put their signature styles on full display for the community to enjoy. […]
This week’s Rewind feature is headlined by the trailer for a new film coming out later this year called The Monuments Men. The movie stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, and others as a group of museum directors, curators, and historians going behind enemy lines in Nazi Germany to rescue artworks. Take a look at the trailer below… Other worthy videos include: Jim Houser creating an installation for the Black Book Gallery. A video of Shepard Fairey when he was in Denver for a group […]

South African power couple Faith47 and DAL were one of the many duos that were in town for POW WOW this last week. We’ll start with the delicate work of Faith first with photos of her mural The Silence Before across from the Fresh Cafe on Queen Street in Oahu. The minimal palette that she uses blended in nicely with the neighboring structures and will be admired by art lovers in that part of town for years to come. Discuss POW WOW here. Discuss Faith47 here.
