Recap: Audrey Kawasaki – “Gilded Horizon” @ KP Projects

Last weekend, KP Projects in Los Angeles closed a group show entitled Gilded Horizon that featured the work of six artists – Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed), Johnny “KMDZ” Rodriguez, JP Neang, Jean-Pierre Arboleda, and Melany Meza-Dierks. For her part of the exhibition, Kawasaki took inspiration from ethnic women in Mongolia, Armenia, Kenya, Yemen and more for her stunning portraitures on wood, adding in some intricate jewelry and headwear for her increasingly complex compositions. Releases: JR x Os Gemeos x Pharrell – “BOOMBOX”

Tomorrow at 4 PM (Paris time), Social Animals will be releasing an intriguing limited edition fashioned from the collaborative efforts of JR (interviewed), Os Gemeos, and Pharrell. Entitled BOOMBOX, the piece features imagery from the street artists on two vinyl records with exclusive tracks from OsG and Pharrell hidden inside along with a cassette box with 10 instant prints of the three artists. Streets: Peeta (Italy)

Recently in Agropoli, Italy, Peeta completed a mind bending new mural for the a.DNA project that is a prime example of his style. Spanning four walls at the Liceo Statale A.Gatto public school, the piece from the Venice-based artist features lettering from his graffiti background as well as an anamorphic technique that deceives the eye. Currently showing in Detroit at Library Street Collective is a four person exhibition featuring contributions from Paul Kremer, Mark Flood, MOMO, and REVOK. Entitled Machine Show and curated by Kremer, the focus was on the unique art-making tools, processes, and methodology behind their work. At the end of September, the people behind POW! WOW! Hawaii held their event celebrating culture, music and art in a new country – South Korea. Upcoming: Faile – “Stages” @ Galerie Springmann

After a successful show in Detroit (covered), Faile (featured) has turned their attention to their next project. Entitled Stages, the new exhibition opening on December 2nd at Galerie Springmann in Berlin will feature some more painterly and graffiti-laced works as well as some of the Brooklyn-based duo’s puzzle-based works.
