Edoardo Tresoldi for Cathédrale (New York)

Recently in New York, Italian artist Edoardo Tresoldi unveiled a stunning new ceiling installation for Cathédrale restaurant in Moxy East Village hotel. Entitled Fillmore, the large-scale suspended sculpture above the dining area utilizes the Italian artist’s ethereal mesh technique and draws inspiration from the iconic structure of Fillmore East, the legendary Lower East Side concert hall active until 1971 that featured The Doors, Janis Joplin, Elton John, and more. Basel Week Miami ’19 / Recap: Leandro Erlich – “Order Of Importance”

During Art Basel Week Miami, Leandro Erlich continued his impressive run of mind bending sculptural installations with a new one entitled Order Of Importance. Commissioned by the city of Miami Beach, the site specific intervention right next the ocean from the Argentinian artist featured a traffic jam of 66 life-sized sculptures of cars and trucks, a reflection of the current climate crisis. Streets: DALeast (New York)

Last month in New York, DALeast (interviewed) completed a piece for the The L.I.S.A Project NYC that really utilizes to great effect the unique style of mural making that he is known for. Featuring a frenetic amalgamation of kinetic strokes, the wall pops with contrasts between the paint and the brick wall as well as the blue and reds while highlighting the Chinese-born artist’s continued focus on wildlife. On January 11th, Daniel Arsham will be opening his first solo show of 2020 in Perrotin’s Paris space. Over the weekend, Jaski Gallery in Amsterdam hosted the opening of sold out solo show from Chris Berens entitled Feniks, Utilizing a special mixed media process, the Dutch artist hand paints different fantastical elements on glossy paper and then collages them together to get his unique finished image. Included in the new body of work was the centerpiece of the exhibition, Crowning Glory, a large 240 x 220 cm painting with its own specially designed and frame created by a master wood carver. Streets: Banksy (Birmingham, UK)

Just in time for the holiday season, Banksy recently unveiled a new piece highlighting the plight of the homeless. Created in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, UK, the wall was introduced in a video by the elusive street artist on his Instagram featuring what looks to be a homeless man laying down on a bench pulled by stenciled reindeer (like Santa Claus). Recently in Paris, Invader revealed the largest version of his infamous space invader ever made at Place Stravinsky, just by the Centre Pompidou. Installed on the side of a building that also features the work of Shepard Fairey and Jef Aerosol, this piece from the French artist is his most ambitious mosaic to date.
