Tracey Emin’s Work On Display At The Cosmopolitan Hotel (Las Vegas)

Like last year in New York City’s Time Square, Tracey Emin’s work is currently on display in another high profile location. The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, a hotel known for its commitment to the arts, are displaying images of the UK artist’s neon love notes on its giant LED sign outside as well as on other indoor and outdoor marquees. James Turrell – “Akhob” @ Loius Vuitton City Center (Las Vegas)

James Turrell, who just opened his first exhibition in a New York museum since 1980 over the weekend at the Guggenheim, also has an interesting project in Las Vegas. The American artist, whose work deals with light, color, and space, has created a permanent installation, Akhob, at the Louis Vuitton at City Center, (on the fourth floor which can be seen by appointment only). Reviving a longstanding collaborative relationship with the fashion house, the room floods your retina with high pigment fields of light. Via Hyperallergic.

Openings: Luke Chueh – “Primrose Path” @ Brett Wesley Gallery

Two weekends ago in Sin City, LA-based artist Luke Chueh (interviewed) revealed the new paintings he had been working on for the last couple months. Created for a joint exhibition with Juan Muniz entitled the Primrose Path, the works touched on the seven deadly sins which were realized through the pain of his long-suffering characters. Preview: Luke Chueh – “Primrose Path” @ Brett Wesley Gallery

Tonight, February 2nd, Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be bringing a body of work inspired by the seven deadly sins to the Brett Wesley Gallery in Las Vegas for a joint show with Juan Muniz. The collection of paintings will certainly be appropriate for “Sin City,” as is the title of the show Primrose Path, an old idiom coined by Shakespeare to refer to a pleasant path to self-destruction. Teaser: Luke Chueh – “The Primrose Path” @ Brett Wesley Gallery

Coming up on February 2nd in Las Vegas, the Brett Wesley Gallery will be hosting a joint show from Luke Chueh (interviewed) and Juan Muniz. Entitled Primrose Path, it looks like some of the work will be reciprocal interpretations of similar imagery including this Russian Roulette piece from Luke.
