Releases: AJ Fosik – “Shining Deathless” Print

Joshua Liner Gallery recently welcomed the return of Oliver Vernon to New York City, with a new solo show entitled Renegade Trajectories. This fresh exhibition highlights Vernon’s cerebral and energetic visuals and pushes them to another level. Vernon utilized a variety of mediums and techniques to create this new collection of landscape abstraction, including acrylic on canvas or linen, as well as ink works on paper. Preview: Yumiko Kayukawa – “Madness” @ The Shooting Gallery

Tonight in San Francisco, the Shooting Gallery will be presented all new works from the Seattle-based Yumiko Kayukawa. Entitled Madness, this will be the Japanese artist’s eighth solo the gallery and will feature her acrylic and ink paintings on canvas detailing the adventures of the characters and their animal companions. Openings: Marco Mazzoni – “Animanera” @ Jonathan Levine

Italian artist Marco Mazzoni recently crossed the pond to exhibit at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Animanera (Italian for “black soul”), this show explores the dark themes of social ailments currently plaguing his home country of Italy. Utilizing his signature style of combining organic shapes & textures with chiaroscuro contrasts in light and shadow, Marco created ten works of amazing color pencil works that balances portrait and still life. Opening alongside of Andy Kehoe (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery is his peer Souther Salazar. The exhibition, titled Souvenirs, is a look at Salazar’s artistic version of the Trading Tortoise project. Utilizing a selection of media and ranging from new paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations, Souther reflects on the journey with his wife Monica Choy. Andy Kehoe recently returned to New York for his third solo show with Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Luminous Reverie, this show explores the idea of experiencing a lucid moment while drifting along in a daydream. We enjoyed the works, which continued the new direction that he premiered during a show in Los Angeles last year (covered). Openings: “Zombie” @ Last Rites Gallery

Last weekend, the Last Rites Gallery hosted the opening for a night celebrating the undead. This new Zombie group show in New York was curated by Travis Louie and featured a hand-picked roster of artists giving their artistic interpretation (like Joshua Hoffine seen above) of the living dead with paintings and sculptural pieces.
