Studio Visit: Jeff Soto – “Decay and Overgrowth” @ Jonathan LeVine

A week from Saturday, New Yorkers will feast their eyes on the lush new work of Jeff Soto (interviewed). Releases: Kozyndan – “Hunters: Charks an’ Kittehs” Print

Husband and wife artistic duo Kozyndan have released a new print featuring the joining of two of their favorite creatures – Sharks and Cats. Entitled Hunters: Charks an’ Kittehs, the limited edition comes in a run of 150, is signed & numbered, and is sized at 30 x 24 inches (plus 3 inch borders). Streets: Miss Van & Dan Quintana (Los Angeles)

Last week in Culver City, Miss Van (who was in town for her show at Copro Gallery) and Dan Quintana combined their powers for mural at the Branded Arts Complex. For this wall, entitled The Big Bad Wolf, street French femme fatale and the Los Angeles-based Quintana created a scene involving Vanessa’s signature poupée’s posed with a large wolf. Update: Camille Rose Garcia

If you have been following Camille Rose Garcia’s (interviewed) work closely, you will see that some clowns have been making it into her paintings. As evidence that the artistic spark and inspiration can come from anywhere, she recently revealed in her blog that some clown dolls (seen below) she bought on eBay (after her show at Michael Kohn) have been haunting her dreams and henceforth appeared in her imagery. Upcoming: Marco Mazzoni @ Roq La Rue

Coming up in October, artist Marco Mazzoni will be presenting a new body of work at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. The solo show will feature his surreal nature-infused portraits all rendered exquisitely in his signature use of color pencils like the piece in progress seen above. As history suggests, there is a good chance that any artist who has made a name for themselves in the art toy game will eventually head to Chicago for a showing at Rotofugi. Luke Chueh (interviewed) is no different as he will be opening a solo, I Am Your Plaything, at the toy boutique and gallery on September 7th. Releases: Tim Biskup – “Doom Loop #19” Print

For Tim Biskup (featured) fans out there, he recently released a new print entitled Doom Loop #19 on his webstore. The image featuring his distinctive refractive style is taken from a painting for his upcoming solo show in Milan at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea opening on September 20th. Published in assosiation with Art & Council, the print comes in a signed & numbered edition of 20, is sized at 40 x 30″ and costs $500.
