Previews: Adrian Cox – “Myth and Mutation” @ beinArt Gallery

On December 10th, beinArt Gallery will be opening a new three person show entitled Myth and Mutation featuring the work of Adrian Cox, Christopher Ulrich, and Amanda Sage. We are looking forward to Cox’s lush paintings in particular, featuring his grotesque humanoid forms which appear to be created from amalgamations of the natural world and other organic material. James Jean Designs Facade Of Fair-Haired Dumbbell (Portlant)

The Portland Design Commission recently approved James Jean’s (interviewed) design for the facade of the Fair-Haired Dumbbell, a building currently under construction near Burnside Bridgehead in Portland. The Los Angeles-based artist’s imagery, inspired by roses and thunder eggs, will wrap the 8 sides of the two-building creative office project, and also cover the roof. Upcoming: Mark Ryden – “Cámara de las Maravilla” @ CAC Malaga

On December 16th, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be opening a major exhibition at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC Malaga) entitled Cámara de las Maravilla. (for which a replica of the invitation was recently release as a print) Translated as House of Wonders, the exhibition will be the first museum retrospective in Europe for the man known as one of the giants in the Lowbrow art movement. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Recap: Audrey Kawasaki @ Hotel of South Beach

After about almost a week of painting, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) has completed her contribution to Basel Week Miami – a stunning mural at the Hotel of South Beach. The piece featuring one of her seductive muses surrounded by blooms is part of this year’s “Fearless Walls” curated by Goldman Global Arts // Jessica Goldman. Basel Week Miami ’16: Pulse Art Fair

This year’s edition of the Pulse Art Fair at Indian Beach Park once again proved the reputation of the fair as one of the worthy satellite fairs of Basel Week Miami. Including over 70 galleries and their 200 artists, the fair featured new works from galleries all the way from Colombia, Spain, China to Japan. Basel Week Miami ’16: Juxtapoz Clubhouse

One of the venues jam-packed with goodness during Basel Week Miami was the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, a special project in conjunction between the magazine and Mana Urban Arts Project. The immersive artist retreat and exhibition space in the Wynwood District features collaborations with different artists, galleries and creatives. Encompassing two large spaces with all exclusive art on view, the event will run until December 4th. Currently at Basel Week Miami, Tim Biskup (featured) has created an immersive art installation in the form of a bar, dancehall, and art gallery. Called The Dog. (1306 North Miami Ave), the space will be open through Saturday night with the schedule of events and RSVP information here. Basel Week Miami ’16: Scope Art Fair

One of the highly anticipated satellite fairs every year during Basel Week Miami for us is the Scope Art Fair. The 16th edition of the fair returns to the sandy shores of shores of Ocean Drive with 125 international exhibitors from 22 countries and 57 cities showing their wares. For this year’s Basel Week Miami, Tim Biskup (featured) will be working on a project called The Dog. (1306 North Miami Ave). The bar, dancehall, and art gallery rolled into one will feature site-specific work from the Southern California-basd artist outside and inside the space with artwork and editions available for those interested.
