Previews: Chris Mars, Naoto Hattori & Matt Dangler – “3” @ beinArt Gallery

After a successful inaugural exhibition (covered), beinArt will be presenting a joint show starting April 30th featuring Chris Mars, Naoto Hattori, and Matt Dangler (interviewed). Entitled 3, the exhibition will include the dark narratives of Mars with work influenced by his experiences with his brother’s mental illness, Hattori’s psychedelic creations, and Dangler’s surreal creatures. Previews: Matt Dangler – “Sanctify” @ Copro Gallery

On October 10th, Matt Dangler (interviewed) will be opening a new solo at Copro Gallery, the site of his showing in Los Angeles in 2012 (covered). Entitled Sanctify, the title is perhaps a hint at some of the heavier topics that the gifted painter will be exploring with his surreal vision. Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public. LA Art Show ’14: Littletopia

Last week when AM stopped by the LA Art Show, we made sure to pay a visit to the special Littletopia section curated by Red Truck Gallery. Featuring an array of artists and art that is seldom seen at the event, this part of the fair saw a healthy and steady stream of visitors. Participants included galleries like Sloan Fine Art, Breeze Block, La Luz de Jesus, Last Rites, Roq La Rue, Spoke Art, Thinkspace, and Varnish Fine Art. Preview: “Zombie” @ Last Rites Gallery

Tomorrow night (May 25th), the Zombie group exhibition will be opening at the Last Rites Gallery in New York. Featuring a roster hand-selected by Travis Louie to give their artistic interpretation of the undead, the show is sure to be an interest among fans of these artists. A couple weekends ago, AM stopped by the Copro Gallery to check out the new paintings from Matt Dangler (interviewed). It has been awhile since we saw a large body of work from Matt (2009), so we were curious to see what Center Flame would reveal.
