Previews: “Small Works” @ BeinArt Gallery

On July 29th, BeinArt Gallery will be opening Small Works, a show featuring over 60 artists, the second installment in an annual group exhibition. The size of the pieces is limited to 10″ x 10″ and smaller with 5% from every purchase to the Australia’s Climate Council and will feature carbon offsetting on all shipping. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’17 / Showing: Exploring The New Contemporary Movement” @ Honolulu Museum of Art School

Showing in associated POW! WOW! Hawaii through the tomorrow at the Honolulu Museum of Art School is the 4th annual Exploring The New Contemporary Movement group exhibition (see 2016 & 2015 & 2014) curated by Thinkspace. Artists were asked to contribute 12 x 12″ pieces leading to a visually conforming display of works. Rounding things out was a showcase for Shok-1 (seen below) and a Homer Simpson x Banksy parody installation by Oak Oak (seen above). Continuing their series of curatorial group shows, Thinkspace will be bringing their roster of artists to Chicago on September 3rd at Vertical Gallery. Previews: Matthew Grabelsky – “Underground” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Starting on Saturday night (April 30th) at Thinkspace, the paintings of Matthew Grabelsky will be on display in the project room of the Culver City gallery. Raised in NYC, the Los Angeles-based artist chooses a setting for his scenes that is familiar to him – the subway. Underground features a body of work that includes animals commuting on the subway trains, usually with human companions, like it was an everyday occurrence.
