Faith47 recently collaborated with world famous Die Antwoord by creating some backdrops for their new music video Pitbull Terrier. Painting in and around this abandoned building in Johannesburg, the South African artist created two works titled Escape and Escape This Place. Following the aggressive feel of both the song and the idea of the clip, the works show the big dog in a threatening pose, and an action image of the pitbull catching and killing a swan. Painted with watered out, dripping paint, on these beaten up and graffiti […]
Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils, recently finished another successful collaboration with Portuguese kuduro band Buraka Som Sistema. After working with them in the past on different projects, he took a role of a director (with the help of João Pedro Moreira) this time on their newest video, “Stoopid”. With his rich experience in destruction, controlled chaos and organized madness, and the help of high speed cameras, the result is this fierce video packed with splashing paint, explosion, smashing things, burning objects, and other elements of complete havoc. In the artist’s […]
Mazer Lazer recently unveiled their latest music video Aerosol Can featuring Pharrell and the artistic stylings of Mike Giant. With this year’s Video Music Awards from MTV only several days away, installation has already started for the event. As mentioned when news first broke of KAWS’ involvement with the design of the special 30th installment of the award show, held in Brooklyn for the first time, there was going to be a a 60-foot Moonman (this year’s prize also remixed with the Brooklyn-based artist’s design) on stage, his tallest Companion ever. As you can see from the photo above, this impressive piece is already in place […]
MOCAtv just released their newest video Buckingham Warrior, a tale inspired by Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) father who survived the holocaust. Ben Baseman fought the Nazi invasion in Ukraine’s birch tree forests for almost four years and this new music video (animated by Peter Markowski and scored by South-African duo Die Antwoord) tells his story in his son’s signature imagery. This was created in association with Gary’s current exhibition, The Door Is Always Open (covered) at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Discuss Gary Baseman here.
