Following in a long line of Sanrio themed group shows, the Hello Kitty 45th Anniversary Group Show opened last month at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. Drawing on the talents of a large roster of artists, the exhibition features a varied selection of artwork inspired by the famous bowed feline. At the end of September, the people behind POW! WOW! Hawaii held their event celebrating culture, music and art in a new country – South Korea. Hitting seven locations in Seoul (Sangdo-dong, Yeonnam-dong, Mullae-dong, Hongdae, Sookmyung Womens’ University, Hapjeong, Janghanpyeong) in eight days, five local artists Jay Flow, Royyal Dog, Xeva, Sixcoin, Yoon Hyup and five overseas artists, Andrew Hem, Cryptik, Jasper Wong, Tristan Eaton, and Persue gave the public a chance to see their live mural painting. POW! WOW! Japan ’16: Recap

In the middle of this month, POW! WOW! Japan invited in a roster of artists including Persue, Push (seen above), Sam Rodriguez, Cinta Vidal, John “Prime” Hina, Kami and Sasu of Hitotzuki, Ryuichi Ogino, Jun Inoue and Kensuke Takahashi to Kobe, Japan to create murals on Rokko Island. The hardworking people from the PangeaSeed project are continuing their praiseworthy efforts with another successful edition of their Sea Walls: Murals for Ocean events. Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). This time around, participating artists were again asked to contribute artwork in a 10 x 10″ format.
