Like they have in the past (see Berlin & Luxembourg), Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242 are collaborating on a new mural in Riverside, California. The two friends and former studio mates go way back, even painting a wall together 25 years ago. A year in the making, the two are finally able to go big again in their hometown. Burning the midnight oil, surprise guest Rick O’Brien invited us in to see some live model painting at Baby Tattooville last night. Working his two subjects through different poses, the portrait painter loosely laid forms onto his canvas as attendees watched. Taking into account the lateness of the hour, the rumored haunted nature of this particular room at the top of the Mission Inn, and the costumed nature of the models, the session was certainly something to remember from this year’s event. Another highlight of the 8th annual Baby Tattooville is the live screen printing event with Tara McPherson and Andy Diesel from Diesel Prints. The prints will be part of the gift bag that all of the attendees will receive along with offerings from other artists. The guests and artists are shuffling into the beautiful Mission Inn Resort as Baby Tattooville 2014 starts! All attendees are treated to their names being handwritten by a calligraphy artist for their name badges (actually limited edition prints from Joe Sorren), as well as receiving their official welcome kit.
