Basel Week HK ’14: Ryan McGinley @ Galerie Perrotin (Hong Kong)

While in town Basel Week Hong Kong, we made sure to stop by the local branch of Galerie Perrotin to take in the work of Ryan McGinley. Vertical Color of Sound is a nice introduction of the New York-based artist to fans in Asia as it features a election of his different series of work. Included are large-scale photographs of his signature summer road trip with friends, his use of fireworks, and his look at night skies. Discuss Ryan McGinley here.

Over the weekend, Galerie Perrotin in Paris presented 20 new works from photographer Ryan McGinley. Entitled Body Loud, the selection of photos are a continuation of the New York-based artist’s signature imagery taken during summer road trips with his friends, staging and posing them in natural settings with his recognizable aesthetic. Ryan McGinley – “YEARBOOK” @ Ratio 3

For those who missed it, Ryan McGinley recently presented a new body of work at Ratio 3 in San Francisco, his third solo with the gallery. The photographs were arranged in a site-specific installation, featuring the NY-based artist’s first series of full-color studio portraiture. Hundreds of images were wheatpasted on the walls of the showspace, creating an immersive experience for viewers as they are bombarded with a visual constellation of faces and bodies.
