Openings: Art Basel (Hong Kong)

Yesterday saw the opening of Asia’s preeminent art fair, Art Basel Hong Kong, housed in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC). With a strong tilt towards galleries based in the region, the fair boasted over 170 booths with a plethora of worthy art for collectors and fans to enjoy. Openings: Ryan McGinley – “Running Water, What Are You Running From?” @ Bischoff Projects

Earlier this month, Bischoff Projects in Frankfurt hosted a new showing from Ryan McGinley entitled Running Water, What Are You Running From? In addition to large-scale editions of the New York-based artist’s photos, there were also some smaller prints that were arranged in a cluster against one wall. Upcoming: Ryan McGinley – “Running Water, What Are You Running From?” @ Bischoff Projects

Ryan McGinley, whose Blue Falling is the newest image for the High Line billboard commission in New York, is also planning a solo show in Germany. Opening April 6th, this Saturday, Running Water, What Are You Running From? at Bischoff Projects in Frankfurt will feature the ebullient photography of the NY-based artist, who plans to be in attendance. Photographer Ryan McGinley, whose video Varuo will make it into NYC taxis starting this week, continues to be linked with fashion shoots featuring supermodels – this time with Daria Werbowy. The latest set of pics for a feature entitled Earth Angel were taken for W Magazine, whom the NY-based photog famously worked with Kate Moss for back in 2007. Rewind: Dec 31 – Jan 6

For this week’s video Rewind, we start things off with news that starting Wednesday and running through Feb. 5, about 3,000 New York City taxis will feature a 30-second video from Ryan McGinley. The short clip, called Varuo, is gleaned from footage from the photographer and director’s video for the Icelandic band Sigur Ros (seen below) and shows a girl skipping barefoot through the streets of NYC with gold glitter streaming from her hair. Basel Week Miami ’12: Team Gallery @ Art Basel

Ryan McGinley Photographs Karlie Kloss For New York Times

Like his previous photography work with Sienna Miller for Vogue and video for Pringle of Scotland, Ryan McGinley has already had several fashion projects under his belt. His latest shoot for the The New York Times is no different as he was enlisted to take photos of model Karlie Kloss for part of their travel series for T Magazine with this particular session set in Nicaragua. Ryan McGinley – “Reach Out, I’m Right Here” @ Tomio Koyama Gallery

After simultaneous showings back in May at Team Gallery locations in New York (covered here & here), Ryan McGinley traveled to Japan for a solo at the Tomio Koyama Gallery. The exhibition entitled Reach Out, I’m Right Here (which recently closed), featured more of McGinley’s luminous photographs featuring his work with models interacting with nature as well as live animals from various sanctuaries, zoos, and rescue establishments across the United States. Rewind (Sept 24 – 30)

Leading things off this week is a video introducing the new Doggy Radio from Yoshitomo Nara.
