Preview: Basel Week Miami ’09 – Scott Musgrove with Jonathan Levine @ SCOPE

A project by Scott Musgrove that we first told you about here has finally come to fruition – just in time for Art Basel Week. He will be unveiling one of the massive bronze sculptures he has been working on entitled “The Great Lesser PlantSampler” (measuring 66 x 60 inches) at the SCOPE sculpture garden and for a nominal fee of $38K, you can bring one of these babies home with you from Miami. Behind the Scenes: Scott Musgrove Bronzes

Here’s a first look at a pretty exciting project Scott Musgrove is working on with the Metalphysic Studio bronze foundry in Arizona. Look at these massive clay sculpts for what appear to be two pretty large-scale sculptures. Not sure when these be ready but maybe for his May 2010 show at Jonathan Levine? One can only hope. Releases: Scott Musgrove – “The Late Fauna of Early North America” Box Set

The ever-so talented, Seattle-based artist Scott Musgrove balances his time retracing forgotten animals of generations past and reincarnating those extinct creatures with masterful precision at the easel. For those hunkering for some Musgrove goodness before his 2010 solo show at Jonathan Levine, we have just the thing. A recently released Limited Edition Box Set of his newest book, entitled “The Late Fauna of Early North America,” gives life to the lost species of yesteryear in super swanky fashion. Openings: Hi-Fructose Group Show – “Overdose” @ Copro Gallery

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing. Preview: “Overdose” Hi-Fructose Group Show @ Copro Gallery

After their highly successful group show last year, Hi-Fructose is back again with another exhibition, this time titled “Overdose,” opening April 4th at Copro Gallery.  With a increasingly more respected reputation as one of the best publications in the scene, they been able to assemble a pretty amazing lineup.  Sure to be one of the showstoppers is this huge 50 x 50 inch Chris Berens piece seen above.  See some other preview pics as well as the full lineup after the jump.

Openings: Lola’s Natural Beauties and Superschool @ Copro Gallery

“Natural Beauties” and “Superschool” (previewed) opened at Copro Gallery this past Saturday, March 7th. Upon entering Copro Gallery, you will see Lola’s solo show “Natural Beauties” on display in the room directly ahead. At the other wing of the gallery you will find “Superschool”, a group exhibition curated by Lola.  The two shows are on display until March 28th. Preview: Lola & Super School @ Copro Gallery

A couple interesting shows are opening this weekend at Copro Gallery (formerly Copro Nason Gallery) at the Bergamot Station complex in Santa Monica. The first is “Natural Beauties,” a solo show from Lola after her recent successful showing at Corey Helford Gallery.
