Streets: Faile (New York)

Last month, AM stopped by the original Record Plant in New York to check out the largest outdoor mural to date from Faile (featured). Designed by the Patrick’s and painted by Colossal Media, the massive piece on the side of the building in Hell’s Kitchen features some of the collective’s signature imagery. With the special screening of ART4SPACE (covered) for Invader’s fans in New York City last month, you would expect the secretive street artist to also make an appearance. As evidenced by the fresh public works, including the appearance of new video game characters and other pop icons, Invader made the most of his time while in the Big Apple. Streets: Mario Wagner (Los Angeles)

Mario Wagner recently completed his third installation for hotel and supporter of the creative arts The Standard. The huge image itself is a retro-futuristic landscape in classic Wagner stylings with imposing architectural elements devoid of any central characters. Here’s where the fun starts though – this installation in Downtown LA has an aspect that is new to us as it is an interactive “Living Collage,” meaning visitors first photograph themselves using the SNAPS app then insert themselves as characters into the image. Curiot recently took part in a new mural project Lienzo Capital in Mexico City. Organized by Museo del Juguete and Insituto de la Juiventud, this project kicked off with the Mexican artist painting a big wall entitled Quetzen-tul con una canica más. After bringing you an in-progress look at the massive mural Stephen Powers was working on in front of the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen last week, we now have photos of the completed wraparound piece to share. It looks like ESPO (featured) is back in Copenhagen (see 2011) for an artist talk and the European premiere of his documentary film A Love Letter For You. Along with this event presented by V1 Gallery and held at (Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Nyhavn 2. Copenhagen K – Denmark) on November 5th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, Steve Powers is also in town to paint a new large-scale mural in front of the U.S. Embassy. Ernest Zacharevic recently visited Singapore where he created several fantastic street pieces. Known for his street art installations, where he combines his realistic painting with the use of 3D objects, the Lithuanian born artist created several very playful pieces around city. Focused on painting cheerful images, often showing children at play, his murals are very popular with by-passers that come across them, and these pieces surely won’t be any exception to that. French artist Ludo (interviewed) was recently in London, where he created several new works on the streets of the British capital. Along with leaving his recognizable mark in form of black and white pasteups with bright green accents, the artist arranged a new gallery representation in the UK with Lazarides. Tag and Juice Gallery in Sao Paulo, Brazil, recently opened Preto e Branco (Black and White), a show by 2501 (Jacopo Ceccarelli) and Ozmo (Gionata Gesi) from Italy. Opened on 2nd of October, the title of the show comes from the main colors that both artists use when creating their work. Earlier today, AM stopped by the corner of Bowery & Houston to catch up with Swoon (interviewed) as she started her mural. Putting up her work over the last two artists here (REVOK & POSE), the street artist and activist is only one in a long line of creatives who have blessed the location in the previous months (see here).
