Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 1

Bristol’s elusive street artist, Banksy, just launched a website, BanksyNY.com, which is dedicated to a new project he hinted at on his official website some 10 days ago. According to the site, Better Out Than In appears to be a month long street residency during which Banksy will be attempting to host an entire show on the streets of New York. After a show (covered) and some street activity in London back in June, D*Face (interviewed) found time recently for a project in New York. Tasked with creating a mural that represented Premiere League Football showing on television stateside, he produced this stunner in the ever busy Time Square. Streets: Kenny Scharf (Los Angeles) – Part II

Last month, we shared with you photos of a mural that Kenny Scharf (interviewed) painted in Los Angeles on the Davis Brothers’ Tire Pros building in Culver City. Recently, the New York street legend revisited the location and blessed the north wall of the structure with more of his signature imagery. As you can see in the photos above of the project (arranged by Branded Arts), he also posed one of the cars in front that he has been painting for his fans bi-coastally in an ongoing project. Streets: Natalia Rak (Poland)

Last week in Poland, Natalia Rak painted a new mural for the Folk on the Street 2013 event. Playing with ideas of scale, the clever piece features a girl watering a small plant or tree depending on your perspective and can be found on the side of the Institute of Chemistry building at the University of Bialystok. Nuart Festival ’13: Part VII – Dal East, Hush, C215

Prolific street muralist Aryz is back in action with a new wall painted in Germany. The new piece was arranged by Positive-Propoganda, a non-profit art association based in Munich, which is dedicated to establishing contemporary and socio-political art in urban spaces. Ruttkowski;68 and Art Is Just a Four Letter Word opened a group show “Three” in Cologne, Germany, at DQE in Heliosstr. The idea of the show is to show the diversities and similarities between three artists from different geographic backgrounds, with three signature styles, united by a common environment – graffiti. Along with a show coming up in London, French “photograffeur” JR (interviewed) also will be opening a solo museum exhibition soon at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. The show officially opens on September 21 (more details on the schedule and associated activities here) and will feature wheatpasted images, photography, video projections, sculpture, as well as the famous mobile phone booth which has been spreading the street artist’s Inside Out love. American street artist Mark Jenkins (interviewed) recently visited Cologne in Germany where he created some new work for CityLeaks Festival at Ruttkowski;68 Gallery atelier. With a help of his collaborator, Sandra Fernandez, the artist created six new, site specific works that were than placed to different locations around town. After participating in couple of street art festivals all over Europe, British muralist and artist Phlegm recently visited the East Coast of US. During his visit, he painted three huge murals, each quite different than the others, but all so recognizable and unique.
