Previews: Michael Page – “The Places We’ll Go” @ Shooting Gallery

Tonight in San Francisco,  Michael Page (interviewed) will be opening his solo at the Shooting Gallery. We visited his showing at the same space last year, so we are looking forward to seeing how his work has progressed for The Places We’ll Go. Featuring a psychedelic mix of colors and surreal imagery, the new acrylic and oil paintings infuse the mind of the viewer with Page’s vibrant aesthetic. Streets: Faith47 for Avant Garde Urbano (Spain)

Faith47 recently dropped one of her most iconic murals to date in the quaint town of Tudela De Navarra at the fourth annual Avant Garde Urbano Festival (also see our coverage of Vhils’ piece). In an area of Spain that is heavily influenced by Catholicism, she appropriately integrated a piece depicting a strong likeness to the Virgin Mary entitled saturation.incubation.illumination. Previews: Beyond Eden 2013

This weekend (Saturday and Sunday), the fourth edition of the Beyond Eden art fair is opening at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. Like in previous years (covered), there are some great events planned and something for every art fan. Openings: JR – “ACTIONS” @ Lazarides – Rathbone

After inviting Londoners to his Inside / Out photobooth truck (covered here), JR (interviewed) opened his solo exhibition ACTIONS at Lazarides Rathbone yesterday. The work on display includes ACTIONS that the French photographer and street artist has worked on around the world like his Wrinkles of the City in Berlin earlier this year, his journey to North Korea, and his 2005 Portrait of a Generation project. Previews: SheOne – “[S1]” @ Gamma Transport Division, Edinburgh

If you’re in or around Edinburgh, get ready for a treat as Gamma Proforma’s new gallery space Gamma Transport Division opens this Friday with their inaugural exhibition featuring pioneering British graffiti artist SheOne. [S1] features a series of brand new works from the Transcend / Wizard Kings writer, also known under his real name of James Choules. Studio Visit: Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada

Earlier this year, we had the chance to visit Cuban-American artist Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada in his studio in Barcelona. Known for his large scale charcoal photorealistic portraits on buildings since the 90s,  Jorge will be presenting a new solo show in Paris at Mathgoth Gallery on October 11th called TEXTURE URBAINE. Showing: Yoskay Yamamoto – “Submerged” @ Times Square (Hong Kong)

At the end of last month, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) unveiled a major installation and show at one of Hong Kong’s busiest thoroughfares – Time Square. Presented by LeBasse Projects, the project featured two large heads, recognizably from the LA-based artist’s imagery, as well as other surrounding Submerged sculptures. Upcoming: Haroshi – “Pain” @ StolenSpace

Tonight in London, the StolenSpace Gallery will be hosting Japanese artist Haroshi (featured) and his latest solo exhibition Pain. For this new body of work, the self-taught artist has applied his unique process of creating sculptures out of discarded skateboard decks to explore the effects of emotional pain. Previews: Mantis – ‘Epoch’ @ Hoxton Gallery
