Preview: Sylvia Ji – “La Catrina” @ CHG Circa

In celebration of her favorite holiday, Día de los Muertos, Sylvia Ji (interviewed) will be presenting all new works tonight at CHG Circa Gallery. With a return to her familiar “Day of the Dead” imagery including masks, skulls, and religious iconagraphy, the Los Angeles-based artist also returns to a subject that she perhaps feels most passionate about and if so, it shows. Preview: Bob Dob – “Mouseketeer Army” @ La Luz de Jesus

Tonight at La Luz de Jesus, Bob Dob will be revealing his paintings for his Mouseketeer Army showing (alongside Nathan Ota’s new body of work). Upcoming: Geoff McFetridge – “Floating” @ Cooper Cole

Coming up on November 8th, the LA-based Geoff McFetridge makes a return to his native country of Canada for his first showing there. Collectively entitled Floating, the new paintings will be put on display at the Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto where fans will be able to admire his simple style that seems to walk the line between two and three dimensional space. Happy Halloween from Camille Rose Garcia

Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) recently posted up a new painting she has been working on and we thought it would be appropriate to share it with you seeing that it is Halloween. Ghost Is Born will be on display at the Michael Kohn booth during Art Basel Miami Week in December for those who are heading out for the fairs. Openings: GILF! @ Galerie Swanström

Last week, AM attended GILF!’s (featured) solo exhibition at SOHO’s Galerie Swanström. The witty Brooklyn-based artist showcased a new series of urban artworks that dealt directly at the challenges facing contemporary societies and politics. Not pulling punches, GILF confronted issues such as healthcare, birth control, politicians and environmental concerns. Her stencils and comments were a hit with all that were in attendance.
