Releases: Luke Chueh – “Black in White (And Red All Over) Figure

Today Munky King will be releasing a new variant of Luke Chueh’s (interviewed) “Black in White” figure (first seen at Comic-Con). This version will be limited to 250 pieces and is hand painted to be extra bloody (hence the “Red All Over”). Along with the figure, there will be original paintings and an exclusive print release as well. The signing will from 4-7 pm with a release party running from 7-10pm, but get there early if you want one of these babies, as the line will be long. […]

Dan Bergeron (aka Faux Reel) has a cool show at Toronto’s Show & Tell Gallery. The ever clever street artist created a body of work utilizing the distressed surface of the street and integrates them with the charm & familiarity of the human face. This exhibition will close this Sunday October 3rd, so try and make it out to catch this in person before it disappears forever. Check out more images after the jump.

Baby Tattooville 2010 is underway! The day before the official madness began, featured artists were able to take a moment to catch up with one another over dinner and learn what BT is all about from the ringmaster himself, Bob Self. Opening tonight, September 30th, at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles will be a new series of seven paintings from Roland Tamayo (interviewed). Showing alongside Ben Strawn in a joint show is entitled “With Ease”, Roland will be showing paintings with his signature nature / technology juxtapositions. This may seem like pretty advanced notice, but we were so enamored with Camille Rose Garcia’s last project illustrating Alice in the Wonderland that we had to let you in on this tasty piece of news. It looks like her next show has been announced for March at the Michael Kohn Gallery and this time, another popular children’s story will be the focus – Snow White. Friends and LA-based artists Edwin Ushiro’s (interviewed) and Yoskay Yamamoto (featured) made their way northwest to attend the opening of their latest joint show at the Roq La Rue a couple of weeks ago. Yoskay bought some works on a new medium for him – paper – as well as some sweet wood sculptures all entitled “lost stories and found memories”. Previews: KAWS – “Passing Through” @ Harbour City (Hong Kong)

Last month we brought you a teaser of Kaws with his ginormous 5 meter high companion. Created to greet guests entering Kowloon’s Harbour City in for Hong Kong, the awe inspiring figure has arrived safely for it’s October 3rd opening entitled “Passing Through”. It appears that the city is preparing for the opening with assorted character wall paper installations to compliment the exhibition at the main entrances. Another Update: Josh Keyes – “Collision” @ David B. Smith Gallery

We couldn’t resist posting another teaser pic that is possibly (there’s a good chance it’s a commission piece also due to its size) for Josh Keyes‘ (interviewed) upcoming show at David B. Smith Gallery. This monster piece (perhaps 120″ x 40″?) looks to be an further exploration of the “Sowing” concept that we first saw in his Swarm Gallery show last year.
