New York’s Team Gallery recently launched a major new show by Romanian-born, Germany-based artists Gert and Uwe Tobias. For their third exhibition with Team, the twin brothers filled both of the gallery’s Soho locations with collaborative works of various mediums, all representing their unique modernism x folk art style. AM recently attended the opening of Marilyn Minter’s latest show Paintings from the 80’s at New York’s Team Gallery. As the title suggests, this body of work is actually a retro showcase of paintings from earlier in her illustrious career. Unlike the stunning series of photographs or photorealistic paintings that most have experienced recently, Minter uses her painterly skills to explore her versions of raw pornographic snapshots paired in contrast with some imagery feature coming of age innocence. With more time to explore the big fair, Art Basel Miami Beach, a stroll past Team Gallery’s booth (teased) was in order. The Frieze Art Fair is soon upon us. Occupying Team Gallery’s booth at Frieze will be a group show consisting of a few of their represented artists. We previewed Ryan McGinley’s works in this year’s Art Basel Miami previously, now prepare yourselves for pictures from Team Gallery’s booth at the fair. No matter how you picture in your heads how the photographs from small compressed jpegs look framed and in person, it can not prepare you for how fantastic they truly look. After having been featured by Team Gallery at Art Basel Switzerland, the gallery is bringing Ryan McGinley’s newest works to Art Basel Miami. The photographs being shown at the fair continues his Moonmilk series (remember his show at Alison Jacques Gallery?) and also includes some images from his most recent road trip.
