Rewind: Jul 14 – Oct 25

This latest edition of our Rewind article is headlined by a trailer for a new short film by JR (interviewed) starring Robert De Niro. Entitled Ellis, the footage follows the Academy Award Winning actor as he stars as an immigrant whose pursuit of a new life expired at Ellis Island. Traversing an abandoned hospital complex, De Niro is confronted with ghostly archival photographs of immigrants and hospital patients taken over a century ago pasted up by the JR, part of the French artist’s Unframed series of works. Openings: WK Interact – “WK/Act 4” (Pop-Up)

WK Interact recently launched his latest publication entitled WK/Act 4. This book houses works from 1989 to the present day and spans 25 years of the French born/Brooklyn based artist’s storied career. To mark this occasion, WK worked in partnership with KLINIK for a pop up exhibition at The Garage in New York City. Streets: WK Interact / New York Mets

New York-based french artist WK Interact recently collaborated on a project with Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and Citibank. Utilizing his signature motion motif, WK takes the star players from the team and reinterprets their competitiveness for their fans in the Big Apple. Up for view both above and below in the ground, look for this artwork along the whole block in Times Square and in the 34th Street subway station. Discuss WK Interact here.

Streets: WK Interact – “D-Day 70th Anniversary” @ Vilette Paris la Geode (Paris)

It looks like WK Interact (featured) has hit Europe again. After knocking out a towering mural in Belgium last month, the New York-based French artist returns to his homeland to build a patriotic mural at the La Géode in Paris to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day (Check out a his previous visit to Paris). Streets: WK Interact @ Sint-Niklaas (Belgium)

WK Interact (featured) recently visited Belgium to participate in the Independent Arts Festival in Sint-Niklaas. Showcasing his talents of visual motion for the lucky passerby’s, the French-born & Brooklyn-based artist created a massive 22 by 9 meters at the Stadsschouwburg Stad. The Wooster Collective recently celebrated their 10th anniversary of existence with a massive show at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery.
