After landing in Oahu this afternoon for this year’s POW WOW, AM headed over to the Fresh Cafe & Loft In Space for the group exhibition associated with the event. Outdoors: POW WOW ’11 – Walls & Luau

The POW WOW wasn’t only an indoor affair. Being in Hawaii, the gang took full advantage of all that the beautiful tropical atmosphere had to offer. An entire side of the building (across from Fresh Cafe) was secured for the artists who quickly put their street game facse on. Prime, Wu Yue, 123Klan, Will Barras, Meggs, and Ekundayo grabbed their spray cans to work under the Honolulu sky. The weeks of setup for the POW WOW ’11 in Honolulu culminated in blowout showcase bringing together talent from different parts of the world. People all over Hawaii came to take part in the celebration where performance, photography, graffiti, and fine art intersected. Coming up in February, after it’s debut in Hong Kong last year, the second annual POW WOW will make it’s appearance in Hawaii. The event, which will feature live art, is the brainchild of Jasper Wong (Above Second), is a gathering of creative minds including artists 123Klan, Jeff Hamada, Meggs, Will Barras, and Wu Yue along with local artists Jesico Serrano, Kamea Hadar, and Prime.
