It’s been a while since we first announced the release of KAWS’ COMPANION: PASSING THROUGH figure. For those who were lucky enough to add the first two colorways and want to complete the trifecta or for those who want one last chance to add the sculpt to your collection, tomorrow at 12 noon (Eastern Time), he will be selling the last black version on his webstore. Good luck out there! Discuss KAWS here.
Earlier this week, we brought you images of Anthony Lister‘s most recent mural in Los Angeles (covered). As usual, the Aussie’s trip didn’t end with just one piece to cover the walls of the city. On top of doing the large scale mural that sits on Beverly Blvd., he also painted inside the offices of theAudience. Creating this piece took no more than 20 minutes and as expected, Lister showed he can put on a show with his unique style, which at times gave the […]
The last time we met up with Martin Wittfooth (interviewed), it was during a group show in New York (covered) and a solo show in Los Angeles (covered). Since then, the Brooklyn-based painter has taken time to work on some commissions he has lined up for the rest of the year including this massive piece that we just have to share with you. In this in-progress shot, you can see a powerful leopard stretched above a view of TriBeCa, the Hudson River, and Jersey. Look for […]
If you remember from earlier this year, Belgium-based artist ROA put on a homecoming show in Brussels at Bodson-Emelinckx Gallery entitled Stop Over. Although we covered the exhibition extensively, photos sometimes don’t do justice to the interactive nature of his works. This latest video that Colin M. Day put together follows the street muralist as he hunted in the city for found materials and also includes footage of the opening as patrons and collectors played with the panels and moveable parts to ROA’s pieces. As a bonus, also check […]
A couple months ago, White Walls in San Francisco played host to Flotsam’s Harvest by the Bolinas-based Mike Shine (featured). The exhibition consisted of an immersive installation featuring paintings, films, and performance art filled with symbolism and clues as to solve the dark “World Riddle” posed by Friedrich Nietzsche in his book, Thus Spake Zarathustra. If you recall, the German philosopher and poet also provided inspiration for Shine’s show in Los Angeles back in 2011 (covered). Check out the rest of the photos below… Photo credit: Joe Russo. Reinterpreting American landscapes with a post-apocalyptic tilt, Lukas’ work imagines a possible desolate future filled with of destruction and violence. French graffiti artist Bom.k has launched his first ever solo show, Vertiges et Somnolence (Dizziness & Drowsiness), at Galerie Itinerrance in Paris, showcasing a series of large scale canvases, drawings, and sculptures. With a unique way to paint with spray cans, distorting caps for an ultimate precision of the lines, the founder of the Da Mental Vaporz crew invites the viewer into his world of disturbing hybrid creatures and urban landscapes. The result is breathtaking.
Currently showing at the Stranger Factory in Albuquerque is a dual exhibition from Chet Zar (interviewed) and Doktor A entitled Oddfellows. Aptly named for the strange artistic vision, the joint show from the two features Zar’s grotesque and monstrous portraits painted in a nightmarish fashion that only he can do as well as the Dok’s steampunk mechanical creations put together by his deft hand. The two even found time to collaborate on a sculptural piece together. Check out the rest of the show here. Photo […]
