Entitled What Goes On?, the new body of work continues the Tokyo-based artist’s signature juxtaposition of Peanuts comics and 90s rap lyrics. Entitled Hollow Heaven & King of Kings, two skatedecks were recently released by YESNIK featuring some of his signature imagery. Drawing from his experience living in an isolated mountain town in Central California, the Los Angeles-based artist has been painting totemic abstracted elements of the natural landscape for the last several years. At the end of last year, Kris Kuksi revealed a series of three sculptures he worked on for the United States Marine Corps as part of their recruitment campaign. The Battles Won set features bronzes entitled Nation’s Call, Waged In Will, and the nearly seven feet tall At Their Core (seen in more detail here), which were later donated to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Virginia where they can be viewed. Last weekend, an expansive collection of paintings, sculptures, and site-specific installations was revealed at BEYOND THE STREETS in Los Angeles (1667 N Main St).
